Last week marked the official kickoff of the long-awaited rehabilitation of the road connecting La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Punta de Mita—the region’s most important access route. The event was led by the Governor of Nayarit, underscoring the importance of the project at both a regional and state level.
The project, years in the making, includes a full resurfacing of the highway along with targeted repairs in key areas, with completion expected ahead of the rainy season, currently targeted for June 20, 2026.
For anyone who spends time in Punta de Mita, this road is part of the experience. It serves as the primary route from the airport and connects residential communities, including Susurros del Corazón, as well as the marina in La Cruz, golf, and dining. Improvements here translate directly into a safer, more reliable arrival and day-to-day movement within the destination.
This project is part of a broader push to improve infrastructure across the region, supporting long-term growth and reinforcing Punta de Mita’s position as one of Mexico’s premier destinations for luxury real estate.
In addition to this road, key projects underway include the new US$500 million Puerto Vallarta airport terminal and the recently completed Guadalajara–Puerto Vallarta toll highway, which has streamlined access between the airport and Punta de Mita.
